The Space Studio were successful in winning another extra care scheme in Southam, working with a new client, Walker Troup Architects, and a new design team.

Similar to the previous extra care schemes, the scope of work was to design the interior communal spaces along with two show flats. As with previous design briefs, we were asked to give it a ‘hotel feel’, so we took this concept even further than we had done before, to create a sleek 5* hotel feel. The interior was to be contemporary and intimate in the residential areas but urban and bright in the community section. The blurring of these boundaries was explored for the shared regions.

Regular attendance to site meetings, allowed us to offer guidance in all aspects of design, from the assisted bathrooms to the communal restaurant. Our scope of work included seeking the involvement of the local schools to provide artwork for the scheme, as we were keen to involve the local community as much as possible.
